Lockdown hit our industry hard and while we all tried to stay positive and push through, many had to shut their doors permanently. 2020 wedding dates were pushed and many couples questioned having a ceremony altogether. I needed to keep my creative juices flowing and couldn’t sit idle, so I conceptualized a Covid response styled wedding. I wanted to showcase what could be achieved with a limited budget in your back garden with all Covid protocols in place….and so Basically Beautiful was born.
Each vendor was tasked with providing a service that was budget conscious, complied with all safety protocols but was still elegant and beautiful in its simplicity. A table suited for 10 guests was cleverly laid by Christine from A Touch of Eleganz, to provide the social distancing by draping sheaths of white chiffon fabric between place settings. Oh Yay Designs provided an understated off the shelf stationery suite that I rate within my Top 10 favorites for its elegance and simplicity. Robyn from Shake n Bake supplied one of her signature cakes that just suited the look and feel of this shoot.
I happened to have been caught mid move in lockdown so found myself holed up in a little piece of farm paradise slap centre of Sunset Beach, called Lama Beach, with its own real life llama’s, Couscous & Crystal. This crazy farm set up provided us with a lovely setting to create a back garden feel, type wedding.
We were 2 days out, all the elements had come together beautifully and I was excited to work again. A surprise call and within minutes our styled shoot was turning into a real life intimate wedding for our couple Grant & Faye, who decided there wasn’t a better time or place for them to share their love & commitment.
